Interesting how Hagg always makes it in to the lineup across a few different coaches.

I have no problems with Haag as a 3rd pair defenseman. I just want Myers playing also. I hope Gostisbehere starts getting some things going his way. Some good bounces could really help get his head on straight.

people slam him but he is solid in his role. Takes the body and keeps it simple.

Isn't going to be as easy of a game. That Detroit team is awful defensively and ridiculously soft around their net.

It’s certainly not going to be easy, but at the end of such a strong November, I hope they close the door with a bang. Let’s go Flyers!

It was nice to see the Flyers win yesterday when they weren’t playing their best hockey. Detroit was the better team for most the first two periods and Hart kept them in it.

If they sleep walk the opening period or didn’t skate they would have lost those games in the past few seasons even against a team like Detroit. The Sens debacle wasn’t that many games ago.

It won’t be easy but MTL’s defense is leaky. Last time we played them at home this year it seemed every other puck possession of ours turned into a fast break or 2 on 1s. Price really kept them in the game last time. Just need to replicate that game.

Responding to MBFLyer:

Haag has looked great in his role since returning. He has been blocking shots, using his feet, closing lanes with his stick, and of course throwing hits.

Is anyoke aware of why they sat myers? Did i miss something that he did to deserve a benching? From what i see of him, especially for a rookie, he has looked great and made several excellent plays to break up opposition chances.
Its a good problem to have with having so mamy dmen who deserve ice time. Unfortunately ghost still seems to be the odd man out right now with how everyone is playing. If ghost gets his game back then that is going to make things really interesting going forward as far as who sits out

I agree about Hagg. My comment was for the Hagg haters.

From the Athletic:

• Shayne Gostisbehere was back in the lineup on Friday — replacing Philippe Myers, who sat as a healthy scratch — and celebrated his return with a key first-period goal. It wasn’t the cleanest game for Gostisbehere — he finished last on the Flyers in both Corsi and xG for percentages at 5-on-5 — but he did show an increased willingness to make plays with the puck, which certainly qualifies as a good sign. “He moved the puck well, went back for it hard, beat the forecheck,” Vigneault said. “I liked his game tonight. He played well.”

• Some were surprised to see Robert Hägg remain in the lineup, especially considering that he spent the bulk of November as a healthy scratch before Gostisbehere took a seat. But Vigneault noted before the game that he was very impressed with Hägg’s play versus the Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday and that he deserved to stay in the lineup. Unfortunately, his work against Detroit wasn’t as clean — there was a bit too much passivity to his game, particularly when it came to chasing down 50-50 pucks in the neutral and offensive zones.

We may see Myers back soon.

His puck handling and decision making does leave a lot to be desired but his ability to block shots and play a heavy game still works against the right opponent. I'd rank him #7 on the depth chart but have no problem with him getting in the line up for limited stretches. I would prefer he's out today so Ghost and Myers can play.

Well they all deserve ice time. Unfortunately they all don't deserve the "tough" minutes. You can only have one 3rd pair out there and their in lies the problem.

After Niskanen and Provorov and to a lesser extent Sanheim, who do you REALLY want out there eating quality minutes?

This is the first time in a long time I don't have a problem with any of our defensemen individually. They all have something unique in their own way they bring to the table.

In my opinion Vigneault is creating competition for playing time. Haag's best game is not equal to Myers or Gostisbehere but the player playing closest to his potential will play. Gostisbehere had some good games and then a couple of sub par games before his benching. Myers has been up and down. I think the coaching staff wants to see consistency in a players game.

Yup, well said.
So far I'm a fan of the buttons that AV is pushing and the way he is running the lineup.

He's definitely struggling on the power play but he did set up JVR for what should've been a tap in yesterday.

He will. It's a long season. What matters is that the team has been winning.

Can’t find the link, but NBC sports released an article with the best quotes on Nisky. Came from JVR, Jake, someone else and AV. You can tell how valued he is on and off the ice and just further proves how great this trade was.

Agree. It was ridiculous people were complaining about the salary retention of gudas as a reason it wasn’t a good trade.

Any interest in adding Drouin if possible?

Maybe Farabee and Myers?

Always look to add high end talent whenever you can.

Is Marchand really complaining about the elbow he skated right into. If you were average height he would’ve taken it to the chest like a man.
